Periodontal Maintenance Cleaning
A periodontal maintenance cleaning is a specialized dental cleaning for patients who have a history of gum disease. It goes beyond a regular cleaning by focusing on the areas around your gums and teeth to prevent the return or progression of gum disease. These cleanings help keep your gums healthy, reduce inflammation, and protect your teeth from further issues. They are typically recommended every 3–4 months, depending on your individual needs.
Scaling and Root Planing (SRP)
Scaling and root planing, often called a deep cleaning, is a non-surgical procedure used to treat gum disease. During SRP, your dentist or hygienist carefully removes plaque and tartar from below the gumline (scaling) and smooths the tooth roots (root planing) to help your gums reattach to your teeth. This treatment helps reduce gum inflammation, prevent bone loss, and promote long-term oral health.
